Parque Ecológico Loma Amarilla
With five callisthenics zones scattered around the hilly oasis that is Parque Ecológico Loma Amarilla, this is as close as you can get to a dedicated workout park in Lima.
The callisthenics bars on the Avenida Monte de los Olivos side of the park seem the busiest, and this is where groups of calistenistas congregate and work out. Head to the top of the park to find more secluded workout spots. What’s more, the callisthenics bars up here give you views across to the communities of Villa Maria. I always appreciate some kind of view when I’m working out or exercising.
All workout areas have your standard callisthenic bars: pull-up bars (of different heights), parallel bars, monkey bars and Swedish ladders. Everything is in good condition too.
Parque Ecológico Loma Amarilla is a lovely park to explore on foot, so take your time finding your preferred workout spot, or why not combine your callisthenics workout with some running? Many runners come to Parque Ecológico Loma Amarilla to take advantage of the serenity and the chance to get a hill session in.
Where are all the callisthenics bars located in Parque Ecológico Loma Amarilla?
One callisthenics workout area is located in the lower section of the park, whilst the rest are all on the hillier section.
Here’s how to find them:
Approach the park from the west by crossing Avenida Monte de los Olivos, and there are callisthenics bars on the path parallel to the main road. The bars are located towards the north of the park. (1)
Enter the park from the main entrance at the junction of Avenida Monte de los Olivos and Jirón Ismael Bielich Flores and head uphill along the wide path to find:
- Callisthenics bars on your left after about 100m (2)
- Callisthenics bars on your right after another 100m (3)
- Callisthenics bars behind the statue of the Virgin Mary at the top of the park (4)
- Callisthenics bars when you bear left after the statue of the Virgin Mary (5)
Where else can you do callisthenics in Lima?
There will be other callisthenic parks and outdoor gyms all across Lima, which you’ll find just by walking or running around like I did. Calisthenic Parks is a site that lists where you can do open-air workouts across the city. I couldn’t tell you how accurate and up-to-date most of the locations for callisthenic parks are, but the site can give you some ideas about where you can do callisthenics in Lima.
Do you have anything to share about this callisthenics location in Surco or any other outdoor workout area in Lima?
