What cricket is there in Lima?
An annual summer cricket tournament takes place on Sundays at Lima Cricket & Football Club in Magdalena. Most players are expats with strong representation from India, Pakistan and the UK. The stakes aren’t too high because the cricket tournament is more about having a good time. I have been told that the standard isn’t something most expats should fear!
What is the format of the Lima cricket tournament?
All teams compete in the apertura stage of the tournament. In 2024, the tournament began on 25th February. It was a T10 league in which everyone played each other over a three-month period. (The 2025 apertura stage will be T12.)
Six teams (based on the 2024 tournament) progress to the clausura, which is held a week or two after the conclusion of the apertura. The clausura consists of group stages, semi finals, and of course, the final. The 2024 final took place on 3oth June. All clausura games are T20.
The cricket pitch is the Lima Cricket & Football Club grass football pitch, with a roll-down artificial cricket mat as the wicket.

Most Lima cricket teams don’t have any kind of online presence. In fact, you can only reach one team directly online.

Lima Cricket & Football Club
The Facebook group is not the Facebook group of the cricket team, but rather the whole sports club. Lima Cricket & Football Club is a very expensive private sports club that offers a variety of sports and fitness-related activities. I played hockey here, for example. (Don’t let that last statement confuse you into thinking there’s a hockey pitch!)
As mentioned above, Lima Cricket & Football Club is the home of the Lima cricket tournament.
Who organises cricket in Lima?
Competitive cricket in Lima and cricket in Peru are organised by the Asociación Peruana de Cricket, aka Cricket Perú. Check out their social media accounts for the latest about the annual cricket summer league and cricket in Peru in general. Their accounts are also a great way to see the children’s cricket clinics that they run around Peru.
